In the early years of Sequoia National Park, it was very easy to access the trees. Access to the sequoia trees was so high that amenities, such as cabins and dance halls, were built in the park. This attracted many people to the park, and visitors were able to walk or drive right up to the trees. It is important to be able to appreciate nature, however this was detrimental to the root system of the sequoia trees and started to damage the Great Forest. Now, there are marked paths in the forest in order to protect the trees. This photo shows A Glass Half Full Alternative Spring Break Group following the marked paths, yet still appreciating the grandeur and beauty of the forest.
