Blue mist rises over the peaks of the Sierra Nevada, deceivingly serene and natural. It is only with questions asked do we discover that it is in fact only an effect produced by pollution of the air. Even when we have travelled deeply into place seemingly untouched by humans, seemingly sheltered by the giants of this forest, we can see that the air and water still carries the taint of human influence into some of the most pure of nature. Even while we might want to think we can protect small corners of wild places, it is undeniable that instead we must also take action to protect all places, and ourselves, from our own actions. For we are animals, just as threatened species are, and must share and conserve these limited, precious resources.
